Pursuing a higher education or continuing your studies in a new country can be nerve-wracking. At the London School of Business and Finance, we hope to make your international experience and transition smooth and easy in Singapore. Here is why Singapore should be your destination to study and explore!

Hub of Academic Excellence

Singapore is considered to have one of the best education systems in the world. Getting an education here is the first step to a brighter future. Education is a priority in Singapore, making it one of the leaders in higher education for both locals and international students in Asia and worldwide. Singapore takes great pride in maintaining extremely high standards of education. The country has well developed educational systems, providing numerous opportunities for international students in many aspects. This gives students a chance to earn an internationally-recognized degree at affordable costs.

Safe, Diverse, and Vibrant

As a country, Singapore is known for its diverse, beautiful, and vibrant place to live, but did you know that it also excels in terms of safety? Not only is Singapore one of the world's safest countries, but it also offers a high quality of life in Asia.  This makes it a perfect place for students who are usually also curious explorers in a foreign country.

Strategic Location

With its strategic location in South East Asia, Singapore is a stepping stone into the Asia Pacific region. You will be really surprised at the possibility of visiting and exploring many places within your reach while studying in the ‘Lion City’. At the end of the day, life is not all about simply excelling in school and getting good grades, it is also a time to experience new things and explore opportunities!

English-Speaking Country

As a study abroad destination, Singapore enables everyone to experience many different cultures. The current population of Singapore is about 5.6 million people, with Chinese, Malay, Indian, and other ethnic groups, and different religions, cultures, and languages, all living together harmoniously.

There are 4 official languages in Singapore  – English, Mandarin Chinese, Malay, and Tamil – but the working and common language for government, education, and business are English. As most of the population knows English, it makes Singapore an extremely student-friendly country for students all over the world while still having many diverse cultures all around.

Tips on living in Singapore

Living Expenses

One of the most common misconceptions about Singapore is that it is outrageously expensive. Unless you are planning to buy a house or a car, you can actually live in the city very inexpensively. Find out more about your housing and accommodation options here.

Not only is public transportation inexpensive, but it is also incredibly easy to use. You can get anywhere in the city on the trains and buses without worrying about getting lost because the friendly locals are always willing to help with directions! The public transportation is extraordinarily clean, so you can take a seat and relax while zipping around the city.

Climate

One of the first things you will notice upon arriving in Singapore is the heat and humidity. Throughout the year, the typical low is in the high 20s and highs are around 30 degrees celsius. Along with the high temperatures, you will also have to get used to going into indoor spaces that have very cold air conditioning. Going from the heat to AC can be a shock to your system, so be sure to always dress in light and comfortable layers to adjust as needed.

Food

If food is one of your passions then there is no better place for a food lover than Singapore! Singaporeans eat at least two out of three meals each day outside of their homes. Why? Because there are food courts, restaurants, and almost every type of cuisine available around the clock that are affordable and easily accessible. With an extraordinary variety and depth of local and international cuisine, your studies here will be perfectly balanced with amazing food. Check out what kind of food you would discover in Singapore here.
